cod.edu College of DuPage hosted a series of presentations titled, "Psychedelics in the 21st Century," on Saturday, Nov. 3 2012 This free event featured top minds in the burgeoning field of psychedelics, and included recent clinical research on these substances as therapeutic adjuncts to psychotherapy for the treatment of addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder and existential distress at the end of life. Presenters included Nicholas Cozzi, Ph.D., Tom Roberts, Ph.D. and Bruce Sewick, MA, LCPC, CADC. Cozzi is the Director of the Laboratory for Neuropharmacology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. Cozzi's research involves the design, synthesis and mechanistic studies of compounds with central nervous system activity. Compounds of special interest include those of psychedelic, entactogenic and psychostimulant effects; specifically, how these drugs act in the brain to produce changes in consciousness, including spiritual or mystical experiences and changes in mood and cognitions. Roberts began teaching the world's first psychedelics course, Foundations of Psychedelic Studies, at Northern Illinois University in 1981. His publications include the 2-volume Psychedelic Medicine, Spiritual Growth with Entheogens, and Psychedelic Horizons. Roberts is currently working on a third book, The Psychedelic Future of the Mind, which is scheduled for January 2013 publication. On 19 April 2012, Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) kicked off the Asian Leadership Series at HKUST (香港科技大學) with a talk on his entrepreneurial success. In the format of an interview with HKUST undergraduate students, Mr Tse talked with HKUST students and staff about his experience in developing a creative enterprise called Post Production Office Group, his management philosophy, and his personal development as a young leader.
