postheadericon Developing PSTs' TPACK in Learning and Teaching Dvision of Fractions

Developing PSTs' TPACK in Learning and Teaching Dvision of Fractions Tube. Duration : 13.17 Mins.

Several studies indicated pre-service elementary school teachers (PSTs) lack of understanding of division of fractions (Ball, 1990; Schwartz, 2008). This was because PSTs were not familiar with conceptual understanding toward this content area (Tirosh, 2000). The purpose of this study is to exam how TPACK (technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge) can enhance PSTs conceptual understanding in division of fractions. The outcome of this study shows PSTs are able to create models to convey the concept; write mathematic sentences to describe these models; explain their understandings in words; and demonstrate connections between different mathematical representations by using TPACK.
